I started painting in 1967 as a
hobby. My Great Grandmother's paintings made such an impression on me growing up that I decided from the beginning
to make it my personal challenge in life to paint. I've taught myself through the years by trial and error doing
studies of other artists' works. Viewing these artists' paintings at many of the great galleries in Washington
D.C. has always inspired and challenged me to continue to paint. I have a few of these studies shown on pages
linked below, including Rembrandt, Leonardo da Vinci, Catlin, NC Wyeth, Winslow Homer and many others. My art
is of course no match to their achievements but I do enjoy painting and hope to start a series of original art this
year with what I've learned.
Below are some Civil War studies that I've painted over the years.
